Galway Cathedral - GE model
-
Hi All,
I have recently put into the Google Warehouse my model of the Galway Cathedral, Ireland. It is awaiting an approval for GE. I have been modeling it occasionally in evenings.
Have taken ca 50 pictures and had to take some measurements as I have had problems finding out right sizes of hardly visible parts.Unfortunately it is the model for Google Earth, so it doesn't have all details it could have.

Cheers

Looks good, Gaius is the expert on old arch. (Hopefully he'll take a look)

Sweet model!
I'm sure it will be accepted for the 3d layer.
(Takes a couple of moths though...) -

Hehe... It is not even that old

Anyway, I wrote my opinion in the rating over the WareHouse. So here is just another comment on something interesting I noticed; I also examined the model in Monochrome view (you know, you can "judge" the modeling quality in that rendering mode better
) I see that you used png images with transparent cutouts in the belfries and interestingly, those partly transparent faces are also transparent in Monochrome mode (obviously not a "modeling mistake" but another weirdness SU has with transparent images).I was afraid that some of the transparency bugs would ruin the GE model but it seems to be just fine in GE, too.

Gaeius, what happens when you run out of old buildings to model?

You can never run out of them. There are archaeological excavation revealing "new" ones all the time

(just after christmas... I was visiting some friends in Dublin... and after that I had a trip around the island... awsome place)As far as my few photos of it are showing, this is a great model!
