Parts list generator

Hi Guys,
I work for an aluminium manufacture and often we design new projects in Sketchup because it is so rapid to do so. We always quote from the drawings but it would be great if there was some way of taking our model and then generate a report that tells us how many of each profile was used and what length they were. We can then use that parts list and take it straight to the workshop. I know there are ones out there for wood but not sure about this application. Does anyone know of a plugin like this at all?

You might want to take a look at DCs and the report generating facilities available natively in SU, it sounds as if they might do what your after. Page 470 in the SU docs.

Sorry to sound like a fool but what are DCs?
I'm also not sure where to find the page you mentioned as I only have access to online help, I'm not sure which page to look for on there?
Also, does sketchup 6 have reporting capabilities built in? I thought that was only in version 7.
