Must Have Plugin
-
Hello All,
I am an architectural intern/student and by no means a SU master. I was wondering what plugins are "must haves". I have looked into a few rendering plugins such as podium and kerkythea, but thats about as far as my knowledge goes. I'm sure there are loads of them which would make modeling, rendering, and well the whole process much more time effective and help to create higher quality models. If anyone has suggestions I am all ears, well eyes in this case. Thank you for your time and have a great day.

Great topic and one that will benefit many users new and old.
I will kick it off with the one ruby I cannot model without, it's 'purge'.
SU comes with a purge option but the ruby version does a fantastic jobs of deep purging all layers, materials, geometry, etc, keeping your model trim and optimised during modeling. Here is the ruby: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/download/file.php?id=12930

Tks for that list Pilou!!!

hi guys!
What does the Purge All plugin do? Does it make any visual changes to the model? (intentionally or not)
-
PurgeAll.rb removes components, layers and materials that you're not using anymore from your file.
Say you delete a couple of components. You don't see 'em anymore, but they're still in your file, doing nothing but adding to it's size. PurgeAll.rb gets rid of them.
Indispensible.

Since you're an architecture student, you should probably get Windowizer3 or Windowizer4 to help build windows, shelving, railings, and other items.

As a testimonial, I couldn't get along without windowizer. It would be first on my list.

Fantastic Thread!
We can all learn from this.
By the way, I think we need to say a big 'Thank You' to Didier Bur , as Sketchup wouldn't be the same without the Crai.fr ruby resource website.
Next to 3D warehouse, it is one of the best features of Sketchup. Really! It is strange that Google themselves never set up their own ruby resource site, or did I miss that?
