Google Earth 4 and Pepakura
-
Hi, Wondering how I install the plugin for Google Earth 4 on Sketchup 7, so I can export into Pepakura.
(have got Google Earth 4.3 recently installed) -
What plugin do you mean? It is already included in SU (since the free version of SU 5 - for the Pro there was a need for the plugin in v5 only).

Sorry, So I can export a model as Google earth 4 kmz format. In Version 7 of SU, there is a .kmz file export, but Pepakura locks up before the file is opened, so I'm assuming the kmz format included in 7 isn't a google earth 4kmz.
I'm unsure what the 'go' is for SU7 as with SU6 I could select from a choice of Google Earth4 (after Google Earth4 was installed) or the .kmz that came installed with SU6.
It might be some other compatibility problem with the new version of SU and Pepakura, but I hope not as the new SU seems good so far.

Actually that is the GE 4 kmz file format. Previously there was a "simple" kmz (also for GE) and a "newer" kmz for GE 4.
Since doubling the kmz exports seemed redundant, from the new version the older format was left out (and the name just left behind as kmz from the former "GE 4 kmz" name.).
This is the only reason Google lets the free users to export at least one 3D format; using it on GE so it MUST be the one. Well, it is; I have tested quite a bunch of GE exports with it already.

At least now I know that it's not a .kmz export problem, some other mystery is afoot. Thanks for clarifying that Gaieus.
I'be be interested to hear if anyone else has struck the same issue with Pepakura2, or if there are the same problems problems with the Pepakura3
Thanks
Jan
