Exporting to CAD
-
I am trying to export a very large file to a dwg or dxf file. The starting file (created by another coworker who is out on disability) is over 85 MB. I have tried purging it to no avail. When I go to export (just need 2D model), it just sits there and finally says "not responding."
Another issue is that when I push the layer manager icon, I do not get a layer manager window.
Any assistance on these issues would be very appreciated. I've started going through the tutorials, etc., but need to solve this issue quickly in order to meet a deadline.
Thank you!

"not responding" often does not mean it isn't working...try leaving it for some time (hours? :~(
Though I've never worked on a file near that big, I have exported one layer at a time before...then put it back together in acad (as it sounds like you were trying to do). Try exiting out, restart your computer even, then first thing after opening the file hit the layer manager again and wait as long as it takes to open. Maybe then you can turn off all but one layer so the file is usable again...?
Good luck and best, Tom.

I was about to start a thread with the same title so I guess I will just post a question here.
When exporting to CAD is there a way to make the lines not come in as a bunch of segments, for example a curve in SU is importing to CAD and a million different lines? Or is the idea that you have to redraw it in CAD?
Also sometimes my CAD export is differnt lines stacked on top of each other making the cad drawing sluggish, any thoughts?

Thanks, Tom -- any clues on how to get my layer manager box back?
