[Rant] Can't download Google Earth
-
Alan
I have tried to upload plenty of buildings in the UK, I have clients that want me to get their buildings on there. I have just given a client their deposit back. If the model is outside of London and any more complex than a cube with some photos stuck on it then I think Google must overlook it. I have followed the guidance notes to the letter and optimised the models as much as possible. It is very frustrating.

Interestingly I have uploaded a fairly complex model to the WH (just as a test; didn't mean to be included into the 3D layer) and to my biggest surprise it was dded:

Jon, there's a few starting to appear in Liverpool...like the 3 Graces on the waterfront...but it seems a slow process.
-
But it's not on the official 3D Layer in GE is it?
-
Maybe i spoke too soon, this is one of mine. Sorry Google.
edit: got confused with the rating, no it isnt on the google default layer. I'll keep waiting.

Hi Csaba, I edited post above
-
And is it current and real (built) building? Not a planned modification of it?
-
Yes its existing. It is a not for profit organisation so there shouldn't be any problems with advertising. The model is very accurate, as I had the cad plans of the building to work off. There are several buildings I need to upload for them, this is the most basic.
-
Ah, good. How long has it been sitting in the WH?

Imagine I have the CAD file (only plan) of my whole city!

A while, I have made various changes and reloaded it.

Coen, if you don't mind, I'll add to your rant. I just ran the update for for GE and it did automatically added the Google Toolbar for IE. I tried to stop it, but then it stopped the GE update. I've had this problem with other Google updates. If I wanted the damn Google Toolbar, I'd install it. But I don't, so now I have to take the time to uninstall it.
