I have to agree with Tom, it's nice to get some recognition.
-
A fair point about getting recognition, but it seems to be getting to the point where everything has a 'thanks for that' type post, it seems to be losing its value as a form of recognition, as it doesnt mean anything if everyone gets it.
Im in no way innocent of this, btw.

Remus, based on what you are saying and your post count, you may be more jaded than others b/c you spend too much time on here.
just kidding...

I don't think saying "thank you" ever loses its value. I'm not saying every single person should do so, but the person who took the trouble to model a component and then share it with everyone should be acknowledged for their generosity.

Daniel, I agree with you. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.

Very well put Daniel!

I'm probably not so different from others. If I post anything I'll generally come back to the thread to see if there's been any subsequent responses. (I don't do the email notification thing). It can be discouraging to post and have no response -- likely we all have felt a few bruses from that. Sadly many people probably don't participate anymore after feeling the sting.
When someone posts a component they certainly deserve some acknowledgement if you think you'll find the component useful. I'd hope a simple thanks is enough to acknowledge the generosity. If the original poster is really wanting feedback then they should say so or ask their questions in the main SU forum.

Perhaps i am just jaded
Personally seeing the download counter go up is enough for me.

Making takes time, and then to freely share your efforts is a selfless act. Contributors are saving everybody else alot of effort and probably saving the professionals time and money too. I have to agree, it is nice to say thanks.

While a "thank you" is nice - I don't get upset when the files are downloaded without one. I don't see the point of the "65 downloads and not thank you responses yet...........geessssh. I do check backas well to see if sombody had a problem with or a question about a component. I do so love to see renderings when people do use someone's components. I would prefer that over the thank you notes!
