maybe not the best idea was to put in the survey which was the best, maybe it would have been better putting which was the most popular and most widely used engine for SketchUp, and so much more to also serve people who want desidir by one.
I agree that the good bad depends on the tastes of birds each, I think the herror would try to change the desision I respect everyone who uses the program for rendering, while this does not happen there should be no problems -
a lot says Vue and its not even on the list.

Fry Render included but Maxwell missed?
Better was: What renderer do you use ( Choose max three of them )and give the pro and cons for it. So requirements or prices are even important then personal whishes.

I read here, and i feel like this topic is getting a little hotter: i actually think rcossoli had a nice idea to shoot this poll. Actually, it's SO true what Edson say too: there's no best render engine, but there's one we prefer 'cos it's easy for us to use and 'cos we get good outputs out of that. So, i think the poll main question is to be taken personally (as for every other personal test question: don't you agree? ).
The other idea about rendering the same scene with different engine is really exciting, in my opinion. Not to be picky on other render engines, of course (nobody here in this forum would ever badly despise someone else's work: it's a fair and kind forum, really, and it's good): i'd use the comparison to say "Oh look how kerky does good grass and trees" or "See? podium is really fast and manages bump maps very well" or "that environmental skylight of indigo works really fine". So next time i have to render a scene, i can start with picking the render engine i find able to handle my scene the best way.On the other hand, should be very interesting to see differences between materials' parameters. Nobody would insert the same bump value for the same diffuse plaster, for example, and could be interesting for me to see what would have come out if i used a stronger bump.I think it's a really good idea.

I didn't vote, as I agree with Pete. Nevertheless, here's my view on a couple of apps:
Podium: cheap as hell, and given some practice, you'll get good images with it. fast. get it.
Vray: better GI than Podium, but costs significantly more. very fast. get it, if you can spare the cash.
Indigo: good unbiased renderer. free, which is great. very good SU plugin. slow. get it.
Maxwell: offers perfect quality. great control over lighting. far too buggy for its high price. slow. don't get it.

I think we kwistenbiebel advancement, this thread seems to me great, the way it looks different images generated by different engines.

i like vray and podium, starting with hypershot but i think its cool.

I'm really enjoying Indigo at the moment, but It is a little bit slow on the rendering side. On the other hand, renderfarming seems to work better on indigo than it does on Kerkythea. In my opinion material editing is set up better for sketchup in Indigo (easier for me to understand). That's my opinion anyway.
And what about POV-Ray, has anybody tried using that?

- there should be two catagories in this poll a)quality b)speed
i would say that indigo/skindigo can't be beat quality/ease of use wise, and lightup can't be beat for speed/interactivity. these are both equally valuable to me, but at oposite ends of the spectrum.

That's what the 'other' is for.
In all fairness if we include lightup and Artlantis we would then have to add one of the other great ones out there which has not been mentioned.

hello, I want to comment on some things about the survey.
Artlantis: I think we should go in the other section because in the time to participate in this forum do not recall having seen a lot of work with that software.
Vue is a landscape modeling program that has a motor rendering, is not only a rendering engine, has an excellent integration with sketchup because skp files can be opened without any problems, but I do not think we rioja be seen as an engine to render sketchup I think it is much more than that.The survey is designed to get the best, but only from a personal opinion, not just to create controversy, so if someone is undecided can choose to see results and know that will not be very wrong if you choose the most voted

This talk should be, I think, as difficult to one person tested all renders engines, as well as to try all sorts of beer, or get acquainted with all the beautiful women:)
I also really like Vue, and not only for the beautiful surroundings, trees and stones, there are very convenient and friendly done, sometimes difficult of course, but very encouraged by the limitless possibilities!
In Vue little modeling tools so that it can be safely attributed to the renders engines, in which the truth instead of photography background, we can create it is almost real...But Hypershot voted as the most intensively developing, modern and fast

Povray shouldn't be overlooked. It's free and there is now SU2POV exporter. Povray has no GUI of it's own, so people shy away from it. Some arch apps I have used include organic links to Povray. With my basic rendering skills, I have found it to be a pretty fine renderer. Haven't tried SU2POV but will soon.

I used POV for fun years ago... without a modeler. Loved to see things come to life out of text. It was magic, but time-consuming.
