I can see the images NOW. I guess imageshack has some bandwidth problems from time to time.

    Cool render, Pete! 👍

        Thanks guys.

Gaieus, Imageshack every now and again have that issue, but hey it's free.

ibon, You ask a good question and I am not sure I have an answer, Vue is more of a landscape art rendering app, well at least that was the intension I believe, I use it because it gives me more creative license than any other rendering app, I have control over atmospheres better using Vue than any other rendering app. Vue has a rather steep learning curve if you plan to master all the features, yet pretty simple to do the basics. I got tired of the same looking sterile arch-viz renders that did the job of displaying the final product but lacked a sense of atmosphere, feeling, warmth.
As for your second question, yes, in fact that is exactly what I do, I model with GSU and render with Vue or Podium.

cadmonkey and chango70, which one? bloom or no bloom, I guess it's relative to ones taste, I chose to use it to soften the image and give it a dreamy feel.

tinanne, I desaturated and added 'soft focus' in PP, and added my logo and cropping. No matter what render software I use I end up doing some PP, I have a little OCD and cannot help myself. 😉

Damn.. I should really consider learning Vue I think..
So your tutorial will come as glory to me :]

Nice work solo, Vue looks really interesting. What file format are you exporting from SketchUp?

                Dale,

I save the model as .skp, then open it in an app called 'Deep Exploration' and convert it to .3ds, which I then import into VUe without any UV issues.

I did another render this afternoon, I changed the roof texture and used displacement, I also changed the car and less 'soft focus'

                  Pete,

Was this the model you rendered with Podium a while back as a night scene? I remember seeing the fountain with a blue light.

Nice render!!!the car is a very very realistic model but there is something to improve such us the roof and the asphalt ground; I think you need a very nice texture for the roof looking for at

If you want I can post an example of mine about a roof rendered by kerkythea; I've improved the texture adding a procedural one to make a realistic effect.

What's this Jack bird action about?

Slam Dancing big boink, I was under the impression that 3DS export was all inside of Sketchup, in that SketchUp will out put said file format.

                          Durant,

GSU does indeed export to .3ds, however the conversion is a hit or miss, with DE I get a great conversion without any problems.

I use Cheetah 3d (mac user) for good 3d exports as well. Is the rendering process more "Podium" or "Kerkythea" like in complexity?

                              dale,

Niether actually, maybe closer to KT as far as complexity but different as the functions are node based (I think Lightwave has nodes too) and that takes some learning, the terminology is also a little different from most render apps.

                                  Pete,

I'm using DE 5.04 and tried your method of converting a .skp to .3ds. When I import into Vue, I get an error stating that the .3ds format is obsolete and that the materials may not be correctly converted. When I choose to import anyway, I indeed get some weird UV screw up that jumbles up my textures. Any clue why this is? Would an upgrade to 5.5 solve this issue? Also, is the .3ds convert/import preferable in your opinion to the .obj export from sketchup that Chipp Walters recommends? I'm excited for your Sketchup to Vue tutorial, as I think Vue fits my line of work (landscape designer) better than any other renderer out there.
