SU won't export to Kerkythea
-
I have downloaded KT into a new computer, downloaded the exporters into Plugins, the exporter shows up in the Plugins menu, it says it is exporting the model, but KT doesn't open up. Any ideas?
-
Is the xml file with the respective folder (with the texture in it) exported to where you choose to export?
-
If you work on a mac then I have found that it will only open Kerkythea if you already either have it open or have x11 open.
Otherwise i've never had this problem on a PC.

My KT hasn't opened up 'automatically' since re-installing twice and upgrading PC once. I guess it is to do with the software not knowing the location of KT (may be SU may be SU2KT). I have been manually opening KT and then opening the .xml file created from SU2KT. I have Windows Vista Home Premium x64 so I thought that would be causing major probs with file locations etc (ie 'C:\Program Files' and 'C:\Program files X86' for starters). I will try to fix my installation and let you know the results.

So, I've found what my problem was.
There needs to be a file called KT_PATH.TXT in your Sketchup plugins folder. The contents of the file is just a one liner pointing at KERKYTHEA.EXE.
Mine reads (For Example): -
C:\Program Files (x86)\Kerkythea Rendering System\kerkythea.exe
I think that there may be an authority problem at installation time when it trys to write this file (Just a guess 'cause i haven't deleted it).
So maybe all you need to do is find where your KERKYTHEA.EXE is and create the above text file?
Give it a try.

I don't use KT that often, but now I also have a problem with the export from SU to KT.
I have the 'SU2KT 3.05- Mac compatible version' plugin installed. It worked before, but not anymore.
The 'export model to Kerkythea' function shows no response at all anymore.
Very strange, because the 'Export Face Me Components an Sun' is full functional.
But you can do little to nothing with those FM files if you don't have a modelfile.
Kerkythea works fine (with previously exported files), but how to get the get the su2kt-plugin working again.I have been looking for hours now, reading several forum threads, here and on the KT-site, reinstalled KT and the plugin, X11 off and on, older mac-compatible versions of su2kt (but I cann't find one), one single file too many in my pluginsfolder maybe....and more.
Now I turn back here:
Is there anyone who can give a clue to find a way out of this problem.......... -
Hi Ton,
I can just guess, but probably recently installed plugin is playing unfair and interacting with SU2KT.
Open the Ruby Console window and perform an export of a model. It should return an error. Post it here, please.Tomasz

Thanks Thomasz, your help is much appreciated:
I activated the export function and this what I got in my ruby console:
Error: #<NoMethodError: undefined method
+' for nil:NilClass> /Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 6/SketchUp/Plugins/MatchboxPlugin/Population.rb:174:in
+'
/Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 6/SketchUp/Plugins/su2kt.rb:156:inexport_options_window' /Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 6/SketchUp/Plugins/su2kt.rb:93:in
export'
/Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 6/SketchUp/Plugins/su2kt.rb:2674I have no knowledge of ruby at at all, but the message pointed at the matchbox plugin I installed not so long ago
So I closed SketchUp, removed all that had to do with 'matchbox' from my plugins-folder.
I restarted SU and..... su2kt works fine now, as it did before.I think this ruby-interference is worth mentioning in a new tread in the 'Ruby discussions' forums (and maybe somewhere in the KT-forums. Here, it is a bit hidden.
Of course, I leave it up to you to start this 'new info'. The su2kt plugin is yours, you deserve all the credits for it and (maybe) a note from you gets more attention then one written by me. I am just a simple user of all those nice, helpfull, productive plugins.
You really helped me out with just one simple search-action. I would never have come to that on my own. Many thanks, I can happely live on with GSU and Kerkythea !!
