silver_shadows eye candy 2: Black Hawk
Hi there again. I am sure you guys are glad to see me again. This is probably the most anticipated model building project I have ever taken on, trying to push sketchup’s limits more than I have ever imagined it would go. This was a 2 and a half month project and actually thought it would take longer, since I was doing this after hours. The final result was quite pleasing and wanted to do more, since I have modeled everything I could find on this helicopter, but time got the best of me.
I was inspired by this Blackhawk’s beauty that I could have build a lot of other types but it always came back to this. To me this is the most beautiful machine in the helicopter range and is probably one of America’s most useful machine during war, transport, evac and just have so many uses. I liked its body structure and looks. So here she is.Specs:
Tools used: The icons listed below is what I have mainly used to construct the bird
Modelling time: 1 full month (if I add up the bits and pieces during the 2 months)
File size: 32.9mb
Rendering: tests took over a time of a week
Render engines: Introduction page (fryrender – first renders I have done on this application)
Assembly pages (sketchup v-ray)
Final presentation images (Maxwell render – first renders I have done on this application)So here we go, how this bird was build, hope you guys like this, all my resources was acquired via going through hundreds of images and I tried to get it as accurate as it can be. After this trying yet but satisfying experience, this would be my last candy for 2008, but I will return in 2009 again. Be well, and thanks for being fans of extreme sketchup. PS: I want at least one omg lol.(swear words are allowed hee hee)

- you can say that again!
Awesome modelling. If anybody again says that sketchup isn't up to it - let them look at this model.
Thanks for the explanation too, it just shows how much you have put into this.
Thanks.
- you can say that again!
-
OMG OMG .
Fabulous job there Silver!.This should be PM'ed to all Google employees with a note (demand?) why high poly support is so important for Sketchup.
You're a very talented guy and the things you pull off by using sketchup are unseen.
-
thanx guys, i really had a blast. I So wanted to post something while this was under construction but tried to keep it in, and so under the lid as possible, to be released on the big day which is today of course. So do you guys have any questions? its this a better model than my previous one (eye candy 1)
-
Errrrrr......by the way: those last 3 images....err...are they actually renderings?
I am mistaking them for reference photos......Are you really thát good?
-
yup those are renders, i saw him do them
-
DENG! That's bloody awesome!
-
like i said..i said those last images are my jewels
Yes its my renders.. not the people...but the choppers are this chopper -
Damn Silver, you are sick!
I mean that in a good way.One question:
Why SketchUp? Wouldn't 3d max be a whole lot easier? You got my respect man, that model is awesome!
-
sketchup is the so far the easiest program on the planet to work on. Its just a lot of people do not really understand its power and spend thousands to buy expenve difficult programs to create high poly models like these. Yes sketchup is limited in ways, maybe su7 will help going that direction. lol
-
Last images are renders!! Well OMG, OMG, OMG
I didn't realise that. I also thought they were reference shots. These are just amazing.
These are truly inspirational! -
LOL NOw im getting the OMG's lol...yea...i fooled everyone who looked at this first time.. saying..hey look at my model...and they will just stare at the screen and say...so...wheres the model.. hee hee..
The last 3 images were rendered in Maxwell render, approx 3 hours each, 2 would have been fine too. -
Good stuff, boundary pushing for sure
-
....really extreme sketchup!
-
First of all...CONGRATULATIONS for this tasty candy. If the first one it was a masterpiece, a piece of art with all those textures and lightning and everything, and this one it's the most photo-realistic sketchup work I've ever seen....I just wander....what we should aspect in the future? How will look the candy number 3? I'm thinking already...damn , and I'm still at work!!
