Groundplan as image

one big problem is, that SketchUp only supports images with 1024 px width (so no matter how high the resolution of your image is, you will always see only 1024 px on the screen).
there is a way to rise the max open gl resolution, described in this thread.
if you don't want to mess arround with your system, I would suggest you split the image up in equal pieces (with photoshop for example), import the segments into SketchUp and asemble them in the right array to get the overall picture.
it is a lot of work, but you get quite good results. -
Thanks, the problem occurs if I make the image from Sketchup. I only can export the groundplane or make a screenshot to have an image which can be reimport as jpg in Sketchup. But these images are not good enough for the import, very pixelate.
The resolution limit is well known, but what exportoptions are the best. How can I get the best screenview with sharp edges? -
I am afraid, I don't fully understand your concern. why can't you simply export an .png or .tiff image?
could you post an image to illustrate the problem?

Have you tried exporting the groundplane as a dxf?
Sometimes, you will get better lines than a png or tiff export.
Perhaps try exporting png without anti aliasing.
If you already have a SU groundplane, I am not quite sure why you want to export it and then reimport it as an image. Is it because it doesn't look acceptable as it, or are you trying to bring it into another file. If that is the case, then saving it as a component and reloading might work.
I am just thinking out loud, mind you.

This groundplane was made by lines and edges in Sketchup. You know that lines are not rendering in any rendersoftware but images. So I have to change.

does dxf export not give the lines?
You could then use illustrator, or some such, to export out a bmp.

If you don't want to use jpg export then dwg/dxf export is an excellent idea. Can open in Illustrator and alter lineweights, styles colors, etc.
I remember at some point needed higher resolution images so I just tiled my image and imported it in pieces. You shoudl be able to slice up an image using Photoshop or other apps that slice for websites. Then you can add back into SketchUp.
