I have rendered a basement. I want it to be a bit more dusty. Like I mean you can see the light reflecting off the dust kinda thing, like when you shine a torch in pitch dark, you can see the dust, that exact kind of thing. Any ideas?

You need to create your own materials and/or clipmaps for that. Don't want to do all the hardest things right in the beginning! Go step by step otherwise you will keep being frustrated all the time.

I'm not sure that Gaieus have this right... πŸ˜•

Do you mean something like this..?? πŸ˜‰
          basement.jpg
If Yes, then it's called Volume lightning and you can play with it under the Global fog settings...

          click Settings > Scene...
You'll now see a window with 3 tabs... (Lights, Cameras and Global Settings)
          Select the Global Settings tab...
In the Ambient & Volume Lightning field, you need to check that Volume Lightning is ticked...
In the Global Fog field you just need to adjust the Scatter settings... (you may start with .05 or .1)

You can find a small scene here, which you can use to play with... πŸ˜‰

Please note! ❗ Volume lightning will increase your render time significantly... 😐

          Cheers

I didn't mean that it cannot be done - I was just suggesting to advance step by step. This feature is great (and if I had more powerful machines I could make really nice images in churches) but also, the surfaces won't be dirty/dusty this way.

Didn't mean to offend you, Csaba... πŸ˜‰
And I don't know if this is what Mike is looking for... πŸ˜•
The above was just a quick render I made using Mike's model for the example...

And you're right that this won't create dirty/dusty surfaces, but only change the lightning... πŸ˜‰

                Cheers

Good to see that you're adapting things fast... πŸ˜„
But I can see that you're still having an issue with the materials on the drums... πŸ˜‰

Am I? Well erm, I thought they didn't look too bad but. I see what you mean now. I have done another render. Here, it is the same but without the soft shadows. I rather this one. Tommorow morning I will make yet another with fixed textures.

Volume lightning and soft shadows is a bad mix... πŸ˜‰
Which also makes sence, since KT is a GI render application... πŸ˜‰
Only use one of them at a time... Never together... πŸ˜‰

                        Cheers
