Coloured shadows?
-
currently, sketchup has a limited capability wih shadows- if the alpha value of a surface is >70, it casts a solid shadow, and if it is <70, it casts no shadow.
Does anyone else agree that this is woefully inadequate for a program of sk's calibre? I would have it o the alpha value changes the density of the shadow, and the colour of the object also changed he shadows hue. If you wanted to make a church, for example, the stained glass windows would be very difficult.
Opinions?

True that the shadow features need some tweaking. The church is an excellent example although if I want to go that far, I'd use an external renderer instead.
Also transparent png files should not cast shadows where the alpha channel is etc.

Actually Al Hart is working on a Plug-In- NPR Tools, which will include the "Sketchy Shadows" feature. Not only will you be able to do sketchy shadows you will also be able to do coloured shadows. Stay tuned.

great suggestion. this feature would make shadows a lot more usable.
sorgesu, thanks for the info. sounds promising
