(req) modeling help.

I am a pretty good skupper but I have got something here that I need some help on. I tried this with the new tools on surface, but it's just not workin' for me and its a bit beyond my capabilities. I need to cut an arc along these complex curves to recreat this spire. I marked in red what I have to do. See attached Working drawing sample. I didn't want to post the skippy cuz I want to do it myself. But I would like some help on perhaps the best approach.
Thx in advance
David

What about some good old fashioned intersect faces? I think you could draw that arc shaped tube and pull it through the top and then intersect it and that would give you what you want. Just have to be careful to line it all up right.

I'd try drawing a horizontal cylinder, then select one end and scale it down to almost a point. Now you have a horizontal cone. Place the apex of the cone on the central vertical axis of your tower, then position it so the axis of the cone is centered above the arcs on top of your walls. Then intersect the cone and the walls. Get it right on one larger arc and a neighboring smaller arc, then copy an array around the center. Let us know how you end up doing it.

Do you ever have one of those **"DUH!!!"**slap-yourself-upside-the-head moments?
no . . .I'm sure you don't.
I get em all the time. Yeah. . .thanks guys. That was it. Here is a pretty down and dirty attempt, some refinements needed but essentially the plan worked. on the other tiers I just use the same method with a few tweaks. Thanks for the wakeup call.
we need a little emoticon dude slappng himself in the head. .. .I would use that one alot.

I am quite familiar with the **"DUH!!!"**slap-yourself-upside-the-head moments?
just some hours ago I wondered, why I couldn't close a hole in a terrain, only to realize that I was outside the group.
hereupon I entered the group and drew the same line five times - it vanished - until I understood that it already existed on a hidden layer -
Or trying to paint a model in monochrome mode...

Well we need to start our own little club then. I am feeling less lonely now.
Anyway. .it turned out kinda nice. This is a spire off of a religious temple built in 1969 that needed an asbuilt model for study. Thanks for the help.

Year Remus, trying to paint a model in monochrome mode has been on my "DUH" list quite a few times...... Among many others things!
Glad I was able to help,

oh yeah; I think this should lead the list of "DUH"-moments because it indeed happens every now and then and every time I am glad that nobody was watching
by the way: turned out quite nicely that model, David
