[req] double line tool
-
this is a tool that can be found in several other apps. basically what it does is to draw double lines with a separation that is defined by the user. it is very useful to draw things like walls, counters, all sorts of rectangular things with a predefined width.
features to be defined via dialogue box:
- offset method (center, left, right, etc).
- end result: 2 parallel lines or a double-line polygon with closed ends.
this could be a script on its own but perhaps it could be part of fredo's Tools on Surface. if a single line polyline is possible and it is there why not have a double line tool as well?

Hi,
There is a ruby that already does this : multwalltool31.rb
Make a search because I do not remember where I got it and the rb itself is scrambeld so I can't read who wrote it.

Edson,
I am working on this (I call it 'Rail'), but it would be a function that you apply afterward to a contour. The reason is that if you draw directly in Rail mode, then you would have no clean junction for a next portion of contour that would be drawn afterward. Also, you often use several tools to draw a contour (ex: Line and Arcs) and you may want to Edit it before transforming it into a wall.
This should be in Version 1.4 of ToolsOnSurface.

Sounds great the double line subject. When should we expect it to be ready ??

thanks. i do have didier's multiwall tool installed but i was hoping for a simpler tool for fast drawing. as multiwall allows for quite sophisticated multi-layer walls it demands one to go through a number of steps before drawing a wall.
