Will work for a moment and then nothing. You can't select an object by clicking on it but can by dragging over it but then right click gives no options. Line drawer will draw then disappear. I have been loving Sketchup for two years now and because of this current problem, which comes immediately after a complete reformat of computer, I'm grateful to find this forum. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice and even gone back to version 5.... but still no change. The computer is a duel core 6600 2.4ghz chipset. 3.5 gb. ram, Radian 1950pro graphics card with latest drivers installed, running XP with SP3. All other programs work fine such as Photoshop CS2, Avid Liquid video editing and unfortunately don't know anyone else who drives Sketchup. Can someone help ?

      Cheers
      Dan

I would suggest you play arround with the openGL setting in the preference window.

there is one check mark that says something about a "reversed selection bug" or something (can't remember too well).

try to play arround with different setting there and tell us, if anything changed.

          Thanks Jakob,
"Correct reversed picking driver bug" when ticked says it's for "video cards that have a face selection problem". Well that does describe my problem but it did not help the situation. When I unchecked the "Use hardware acceleration" the problem seemed resolved but at a significant cost. Very slow to respond.
Another symptom is distortion in the drawing when orbiting around.

The video card appears to be the problem and only since the reformat and driver updates, so I will try rolling back to the former driver....but still eager to hear any other suggestions.
          Thanking you
          Dan

it seems indeed, that the problem lies with your graphic card drivers.

so your aproach to find other drivers here is probably the right one. I once read about inofficial (unstable) drivers for radeon cards that solve some graphical problems with SketchUp. can't remember their name though (neither where here in the forum I read about it)...

I have a friend who tracks down good info on such items, I'll ask him to search it out. Thanks for the help, will report when all is well again.

Juju just send me a message with a link to the drivers I refered to ealrier:

                @unknownuser said:

The drivers I was referring to are available from OmegaDrivers, it seems as though they have drivers for both ATi and nVidia these days. I remember when I had my Radeon ATi 9800 Pro 128MB (it was a few years ago) these drivers helped to speed things up, I can't think that things have changed much in assessment.

How much they will help with SU, I don't know. However the drivers were always well optimised and stable.

                Hope this helps!

perhaps these can be of use for you...
