[Plugin] Proper Animation V1.08 Beta(Updated 14/11/10)
-
Thank you!!!
It works Great!!! And the plugin supports position and scale transformations!
I only have problems with some rotations.. look at the attach video. The simple box is rotated 90° from the center point but in the animation looks strange.
Now you can set up to 4 positions. Can you add more?? 4 is not sufficient for this so amazing plugin.Thank You!!!

Under Way of Working on June 9th I wrote " ... this could mean more Pro versions, more scripts, a new profession of nameset makers, animations in addition to bar charts ..."; so you can imagine I am very happy to see you have come up with this. But unfortuately I cannot open your googlepage from here for some reason; would you be kind enough to upload the zip file or send it to me by PM?
Thanks
Chris

Thank You! Yet another very impressive plug-in.

Thank You!!!

This looks like a great plugin!

Any chance of either posting a version of the video we can view on OS X? I get a codec error in Quicktime using the WMV plugin. No Xvid for the Mac AFAIK.
-
I am glad you like this, now lets see your creativity results.
-
this plugin is written only in ruby, so it should be good for both mac & windows.
-
when saving your sketchup model the "positions" are saved in it too, so if you email your model to a friend and he downloads this plugin, he should have the same animation functionality.
-
this plugin uses the new SU version 6 "observer" class to hook into the "scenes" change, this "observer" is not called by SketchUp "Export -> Animation" so right now you cant standard export this to an AVI - just see it in sketchup.

for the mean time hide the axes and use some screen capture utility to export videos. -
later i will add more than 4 positions, start experimenting very slowly.
-
Youtube too does not like my wmv9 video - try

the resolution is terrrible but better than nothingi trust you come up with better viedos

Great job on that plugin -
Morris:
Great work. I think everyone's hopes have been elevated.
We need to have a way for all .skps using your scripts to have a link embedded that will enable the anyone opening them to easily downloaded and install the proper script.
I suppose it could something as basic as floating text label with instructions if there was not a way to automate the process.

Looks very promissing, but why does the object you animate "shrink" during the animation..??
I.e. a wheel turning on a motorbike will look a bit strange since it constantly change size during the animation... -
Morisdov, Wow, this looks amazing and I think the word 'PROPER'
well descibes what you have achieved. This is indeed very generous

Yes, Morisdov great plugin but I also wonder why when rotating (p.e. doors) it isn't rotating but a sort of (as Kim stated)'shrinking, turning and expancing' movement.
greetings,
ErikB -
please download latest version 1.01 - should fix "shrink" on rotation.

....thanks!

I saw a post in the SketchUp forum about making a paper airplane animation. I was curious and thought I'd play with it. In the attached model, I've got two components. The triangular one is supposed to fold up. As it does, though, it moves away from the other component. When I rotated it, I rotated along the edge common to both. Is there a way to make the component "hinge" on the edge?
Folding Paper.skpFWIW, it does seem to work properly for a hinging door.
hinged door.skp -
very useful plugin, when you have to describe running machines without stopping them for safety reasons....

Hallo Morisdov
Just my last drawing using your work...
It's so easy to show complex movements ( here the Sample Handler on a Xray Spectrometer )

Morisdov,
thank you for sharing! (applause)
this looks really great - can't wait to try it.I noticed in your video that it appears the working of the rotate tool is SketchUp is still a bit frustrating for you... perhaps I'm wrong... if so, sorry - I mean no offense! It is a very difficult thing to master for many people I teach!
The tip I give in training people in SU at our office is: when you go to place the center of the rotation tool protractor, click and drag (don't just click and release the mouse button right away) and PULL the center rotation axis of the tool (like the axis of a motor bike wheel) into an SU colored axis direction. then you will see it highlight as it locks the rotation tool onto that axis. Then let go of your mouse button when the rotate tool is locked into the axis you wanted. Then click first to set a 'base' 'zero' point... then START rotating in one or the other direction, THEN click your second point, or just type the angle you want after you have started it rotating.

Hello Morisdov,
I'm really fond of your plugin.
Some feedbacks : When using SketchyPhysics on the same time, Priority is given to SKPhysics, I've to activate continously the scene button to move slowly proper-animated groups. ( may be my 4 years old PC is little bit slow...)
I've discovered that selecting all the scenes and apply them the same camera set-up, improves the reading. (Sorry for such a frenglish syntax )Do you know if it's possible to read "proper_animated skp files" on viewer as far as the plugin is needed to perform movements ?
If someone knows how to insert plugin in SketchUp viewer, he is welcome...
(I mean animations plugin and why not SketchyPhysics...)MALAISE
