is there any way to make sketch up run faster without getting a faster processor. when i have all the layers on the program runs really slow. so is there a way to keep all the layers on and still have the program run at normal speed

a lot has to do with modelling technique as well. Creating components and such.

          how right you are Juju!

you should never underestimate how much better a clean model works. and I think, if you use components where possible (everytime you have a repetition of the same element), it is only your grafic card that has to labour...

but whether you can switch on all layers or not depends of course on how many layers you have and (much more important) how big your model is.
with a big enough model you can bring any computer to his knees.

You might also try turning shadows off.

oh, and profiles may slow down the performance as well...

never download the models of Max Grueter from the 3D warehouse! they kill your computer 😜
(I love the work of that guy and I'm wondering if he uses sketchup as modeller for his pieces)

On a serious way, I'm with Juju and plot-paris: simplify your models - elegance is the right balance, not a polygon more, not a polygon less.

He uses Cinema4D for modeling his stuff.
(he explained me by e-mail some time ago)
