Pan and Orbit Problems
-
OK folks, I've lost my middle wheel orbit, and my m wheel+ shift panning ability it seems. It was acting up for a half hour or so, not responding well when I tried to use the middle wheel, but now it's totally broken and I can't do either. If I pick the orbit or pan tool both work.
I can still zoom with it but I guess it's obvious my m wheel's broken, or could it be something else?

Yep, sounds like your mouse. Did you feed it lately? Maybe you need a new one...

poor little mouse

your computer didn't do an update of your mouse driver, did it?
perhaps this thread could be of use for you (fourth post or so...)

Ouuu, I don't know Plot, how would I check that out?
I can't close browser tabs now with center wheel click so I bet it's just worn out.
-
My central wheel click seems to be dying as well - sometimes it's just a pain to get it to work.
I guess "normal" mouse manufacturers simply do not count with sketchuppers!
and underdesign its durability.Oh well, it will still be OK for other things...

That is why I have a gaming class mouse (Logitech MX518), they tend to be more durable (and more expensive).

...and you can change the mouse's balance with a set of weights

I have no idea how to balance it correctly though (just made it as heavy as possible)
