      Hi Everbody

Does anyone know if it's possible to turn off edges for just one component but not on the rest of the model ? I have a terrain surface I created in Sandbox that has a few edge lines on it that I don't want, but I do want to keep them on the rest of the model. I thought of changing the edge colour to 'by material' in the style menu, but agian this affects the entire model.

Does anyone know if you can perform either of these operations to specific components/groups only?

      Cheers

      Peter

Peter, you can hide edges by selecting them then using the right click menu. Easier is to use the eraser tool with the shift key depressed. Have fun...then post it!

If you open your component (or group) in edit mode; open the Styles window or the Face Styles toolbar; switch to Wireframe; and select your entire component's edges using a crossing window (NOT using CTRL+A, which will select the non-visible faces along with edges); hide the selected edges; and then switch back to some other face style, THEN all of the edges for that component/group will be hidden although the faces will not.

This little trick also works (if you use the Styles window to turn off all edges temporarily) if you wish to select and hide only faces of a given object, group, or component.

              Hi,

While the gentlemen above are correct how lines can easily be hidden, you may rather be interested in softening those edges instead, if they are on a terrain.

To do this, right click on the terrain component and select soften edges. A dialogue will pop up where you cn check "soften coplanar edges" and use the slider to soften what you want.

You can also soften individual edges (in edit mode) using the Ctrl+Erases tool.

Softening a terrain would probably give you better visual results than only hiding edges because by hiding them the surface will stilll ermain "broken".

              Gai...
