Are you ready for SketchUp 7 news?

Fixing high poly support would probably mean tangling severely with the SU core code.
Since SU nowadays is heavily connected to Google Earth, each modification to the core would have direct consequences to GE.
That makes development more difficult as two pieces of software need to be updated simultaneously. So my guess is that the new features we will see, will be things 'on top' of the existing program. Maybe some features to make low poly modeling for GE a bit easier: better GE export, slightly improved photomatch....Things like that...
and of course the youtube, facebook

yes , iยดm ready

I just hope Google did some work on LayOut as well!
-
Oh Rapture!

you know, I feel a bit like a little child awaiting its birthday. I hope I will be able to fall asleep tonight - this is so exciting
-
I dont tink theres much point in gettign your hopes up, its nothing major (as coen said.)
-
I bet it will be limited improvements in...wait for it...wallpaper!
And they will add five or six more tabs to the Styles Window just to make it more cumbersome!

I just bought the subdivide and smooth plugin this week, so I know that Google will announce that they're releasing SU7 with fantastic S+S capabilities.
HA! Consider being on the other end, and slaving over a new script for a few months, only to have it displaced by a new feature (3D Text Tool)!

Except that your tool is way more versatile! I'd buy your 3D text tool, for sure, if I hadn't already.

I think that the Speed Racer movie is supposed to be out Saturday...I'll be busy trying on my Racer X mask.

Perhaps its a request for beta testers or that it will previewed at the Base Capmp?

They have fixed the shadow bug
-
huh ? true ?
-
Maybe the big news is that we're skipping 7 altogether and going right to 8.

That would be something worth crowing about... such a horrid problem to still have.

I'd buy that for a dollar. I've always wondered why they left such an obvious "bug" in the application.
Maybe they'll throw in fixing the view plane being cut off if you have a Large (spatially large) model and try to zoom into an area.
Those two things alone would be worth the upgrade.

Fixing both of those issues would require dumping the current graphics language for...what, Microsoft's DirectX? Where would that leave the Mac SU users?
Incidentally, said Shadow Error was fixed in SU4...it just happens that someone owns the IP rights to the method for fixing it, and they were not willing to share. Or maybe no one at Google cared to pay them what they wanted for it.

SU4 implemented Carmack's Reverse, but since then...like the Raven said.

Coen, it's saturday! Wake up!
