Are you ready for SketchUp 7 news?
-
Are there any more new news about Sketchup 7?
-

ChrisI am sure SU7 will have a Chuck Norris button.
-
...that round house kicks your model in to something presentable

I've heard that someone high up in Google does not like the name SketchUP and has decided that the product be renamed to GiddyUP, In a not so subtle reference to his love of horses.
One of the new features will be called Nibble, This feature will progressively Eat away at your model until eventually there is nothing left. The process can be controlled and the amount of nibble and the rate of nibble and when to stop the nibble are user controlled.

Sounds very useful! How will this integrate with the StyleBuilder?

See, I heared it was Sex-up an there was a nipple feature.

On the bright side it will probably have a render animation direct to You tube so that You tube can also be spammed with crappy models like 3DW currently is.
-
lol. Aren't we a cynical bunch. Seriously, though, I'm willing to bet 7'll support high poly models. That, and obj. import. Why? Cause those two things alone will turn SU into a cash cow.
-
It will be entirely re-vamped for the Vista operating system. Everytime you try to do something, a window will pop up asking "are you sure you want to do that?" Answering yes will only produce more windows until finally you the message "SketchUp cannot perform that operation as you do not have authorization. Please contact your network administrator."
-
Theyll also launch about 12 free versions to accomplish a variety of tasks, from modelling interiors, modelling exteriors, landscaping, massing etc. Everything you could ever want in 12 easy to use packages. Oh and they got rid of inference, to many people complained it was really annoying.
-
Stinkie, I'll bet your octo-core monster that high poly support, 64 bit and multi core will NOT be included.
-
Seriously? Dang - why would they not include high poly support?
from my cold, dead hands, Stoppel

Maybe because no one @ Boulder office really is doing hard code on the SU core itself?
At least there is not the slightest indication that they do.
Someone might just have lost the key to get in there .(just joking around)

I do not know whats in version 7, I am not on the beta team , and if i was i would not be able to say as they have a well defined non disclosure.
I just have a hunch, call me quasimodo.
-
Well ... they'd be passing up on a great business opportunity if they didn't include high poly support. In any case, I was already planning on diving into Silo in September.
Not that I want to give up on SU. God no. And I'm fairly sure none of you would like to do that. Though ... maybe I'll check out Bonzai when it's released ...

solo,
your hunch is a little bit risky, really..,:

+1! You forgot to mention the LO integration.
SU 7 will sell the Pro version as severely handicapped and add all the new GE/GW features (buttons that make you go: "oooh, dats purdy") will be integrated into the free version. There will also be an in-model advertising component to SU7 so whenever you name a component say "window" you'll be bombarded with links (in an interactive right hand side pane) to companies that sell windows, cleans windows, glaze windows, and of course the operating system as well, just to be complete.
-
I'm speechless but tell you what,
I've been looking at a lot of "similar to SU software" springing up around lately but I must say so far none have even gotten close.
And I'm confident that SU 7 is gonna be and SU 6 still is the best 3D tool you can have on your machine!
Looking forward to that mail tomorrow,......
-
You're damn right that SU still rules.
'Being a fine app' is, at the same time, the frustrating part for some of this forum users as well.
As we love to use Sketchup we are concerned about its further development.
I am sure I am not the only one who would hate to undergo the difficult learning curves of the dinosaur apps when SU 7 would turn out to be not that good or some basic requirements (like high poly/64 bit) would not be met....
