Just found out that the proxy can quite easy manuel be moved to a specific layer.

Would you mind telling the rest of us how to do it?

Open the group (containing the proxy and subsurf), triple click the proxy, right click->entity info->layer.

Thats how i do it, anyway.

you can just turn the layer back on, no need to move any geometry.

If you modify the Proxy, you have to move it to the other layer again, but it might not bee a big problem. I haven't actuealy not played around with this Ruby that mutch 😄

Well to summarise layers in a paragraph:

Layers only control the visibility of geometry, nothing else. To create a new layer go window->layers then click the littly plus sign. To move things to a different layer, select the stuff you want to move, right click->entity info. And the golden rule of layers: only draw on layer 0, keep groups/components on other layers.

Thats all their is to it really.

I am still having trouble with this. . .I know how to select one or the other, but it seems that moving one group to another layer is no help. It still hides both the Subsurf and the proxy. Anyone else having this trouble?

If I make it look easy...It is probably easy

David,it works just like Remus described.(Thank you remus for that useful hint).
Are you sure you didn't select the subsurface instead of the proxy?

By the way, if needed, the subsurface itself can also very easily be hidden. Just open the 'outliner' panel and there you will see it as a part of a group. right click 'subsurface' and hide.
