I'm trying to export a 2D veiw to a PDF file and I'm getting a bug splat sketchup crash. I've done this before with no problem but not since the latest undates have come out. System hasn't changed any that I know of. I've tried numerous reboots since its a PC/XP and still each time I try to export - splat. I can export JPG's and DWG's with no problem, its just the PDF export. And .... I did a search on the terms I could think of and didn't come up with anything.

      Anyone have any ideas?

      Thanks

Are you using the built-in PDF export by SU or a PDF printer application?

I've never had any problems creating PDF's with a PDF printer application, I use PDF995 but there are quite a few available.

Today, working on the problem, I tried to export a PDF from a really simle model in a new file and it exported just fine using Sketchup's export mode. So I copied and pasted the roof plan from orginal model into a new file and it exported just fine. So then I tried the same thing with a more complex layer of the model and it crashed. Crazy.

Then, as I was messing around with the pasted layer in the new file I realized that I was looking at it in wireframe veiw. So I turned on the shaded view and tried the export and it worked, no problem.

I then went back to the orginal model and checked and it was in wireframe veiw also. It might seem strange that it wasn't obvious that I was in wireframe, but this model is all 2D floor plans and I try to keep all the faces erased as I build it. Anyway, I turned on the shade view and tried to export a fairly complex layer and it worked just fine.

So JuJu and ThomThom thanks for your interest and replies. I guess the problem is fixed. You guys have a great day
