Simple texture mapping
-
Hello,
I would like to front map a texture on a face - full texture on a face, no tiling.
Is there an easy way to do that in Sketchup ?
I don't find the "pins" system really handy to use. -
Pins usually work fine. Could you tell more about the problem?
Also sometimes i just drag texture directly from windows explorer and drop in sketchup. It creates a face with this texture perfectly mapped. Then you can simply scale it to whatever you need. -
The pins are pretty easy to use whan you know how.
Just make sure you use the green scale pin and you can quickly and easily get the texture to the correct size. It might be that the Fixed Pins option wasn't selected and the pins just looked like four yellow pins. If that's the case then right click again and select Fixed Pins.
Another option for you could be to edit the size of the texture in the materials menu.

Thank you very much both of you !
I think AndriyG81 drag and drop solution is what I'm looking for, works well
Thanks ! -
Drag and drop is the way to go. However, SU doesn't like being partly minimised in order to do that...it tends to send the toolbars all over the place.
If you want to avoid that happening, simply import the image file...but not as a texture; import it as an image then explode it. Whenever you choose an image format for import you get a set of radio buttons on the right of the dialog box which enable you to choose the manner of import. In fact I hardly ever import an image as a texture, even when that is how I intend to use it.
