North Dallas
-
Two days ago 5 confirmed tornado’s touched down in North Texas, North Dallas was ground zero. With winds around 120mph they tore a new one in many suburbs, mine included. Though I was lucky and only lost a few trees and shingles off my garage, my neighbors lost much more down the road. We have had some serious power issues since the incident so things have been pretty dodgy, we are instructed to limit our water consumption as our water plant is down and until power returns to it the pumps and filtration are not working.
Okay, I can live with this, nature has spoken ...right? but what could be worse than this I joked, then on the news I got my reply.
What is worse than 5 tornado's hitting North Dallas?, George Bush moving into my area after his reign as supreme commander, lord of war.
This just sucks!

Sorry to hear that Pete. I hope your power and water get stable soon.
We have a tornado on the ground 30 min. south of us right now and one about an hour north. Storms are due to hit us in about an hour.
-
Glad to hear your okay, Pete. Hope your area can recover quickly.
As to Herr Bush, be comforted in the fact when he moves there, he won't have the "football" (the briefcase handcuffed to his accompanying military aid; it allows the president to launch a nuclear attack) anymore.

Eric, it is true what they say, tornado's do indeed sound like frieght trains when approaching. If your city sirens go off find a room without windows and sit tight, thats about all I can suggest unless you have a storm shelter available. Oh, switch all computers off and unplug them as well as routers, modems, phones etc.
Good luck mate.

Daniel, thats the good part.
But then again giving Hillary the football is also scary.

it is amazing how fragile one feels when facing natural disasters like these. and when they are gone we realize the importance of things we take for granted like power and water supply. for a time all you want is to have water running again.
hold tight, pete, and good luck.

Solo,
As for the tornado’s, I hope you are all doing okay.
Forget all the unimportant things for this moment and take your time (and precautions!!!) to absorb the power of nature. It will give you the opportunity to put things into perspective.....what's really important and what's not. Take advantage of this forced situation, there is not much else you can do.
(I do remember experiencing an earthquake in Greece (6.4 Rigter-scale), like driving a truck on a bumpy road )
As for Bush moving into your area. Give him a warm welcome so he will stay. Thereby doing so many people a favour!Wo3Dan

Damn Pete! That just sucks, as you said. I hope your neighbourhood recovers in record time.
In SA, we have power outages as well, computers / TV's / entertainement systems / vehicles / etc. get "lost" during these times. Only thing is, here it is a planned event due to scheduled power load shedding as a result of inadequate planning and really bad management on the part of the Government and the power company monopoly.
We don't need natural disasters to put a knock in local economy, heaven help us if one should hit.

Thanks guys, it seems that all is sorted out, thanks to the contractors from Oklahoma that came down to assist us and get things back up.
Juju, my mum was telling me about the power cuts in Joey's, she's pissed at the whole scenario. Yet those monopolies still export power across the border for a heck of a price while their own country has to suffer power restrictions and synchronized looting, your situation is more frustrating as it's a conscious planned and greed based issue.
