Hello,
I cannot seem to find how to copy items, like furniture images, from one file to another file.
Is this possible? I change the room layout from time to time but would like to copy the furniture images without having to recreate them.Gale

The best thing to do would be to make them into components and then save them to your components folder. That way they wil be accesible through the components browser (window->components)

I agree with remus, that's the right way to do it. Another way is to open both files and just copy from one (Ctrl+C) and paste in the other (Ctrl+V)

Thanks for your replies. I have another question and a comment. I am using the free version
of SketchUp. Do these suggestions apply to the free version. I will not be buying the Pro version because this is a very small and short project. I am making layouts of floor plans and furniture placement for our new Retirement Village apartment that we will move to next year. I had a very large CAD program once up on time some years ago and that went the way of all flesh. I think it was a DOS AutoCAD!!!
I am having problems making either one of the suggestions work so that is the reason for the question.Gale

Hi Gale,
SU Free is capable of all the modeling features of SU Pro. The only difference is in 3D and 2D vector format export possibilities and (for a funny reason only PC version) the Location tab in the model info. See a detailed "distinction" between the two programs here.
Note however that if you succeed to use SU in your current project, you will never uninstall it from your HD
