Can I offer one suggestion...? (He asks not waiting for an answer)
When doing the lettering on your model, hide the edges of the letters. This way the linework around the letters won't conflict with the letters themselves. See the attached pic for a better explaination. The Ctrl button I hid the lines of the letters, all the others I left alone. Then I did a screen grab. Notice how much cleaner the letters are on the Ctrl button.
