New House Concept

Hello, All,

I've been working out a house concept based on the idea of few if any doors, and a large private area with 3 stand-alone sleeping modules, each with computer areas above. I've attached two views here, here's a link to additional views, including sleeping modules.

Here's a roofless view. Plus an Xray view of a Sleeping Module
Some other notes:

The Sleeping Modules are oriented so that the entry to each one is private and the horizontal window in each has an unobstructed view of the outside
There is only one storage wall labeled in the sketch, but the intention is that there is concealed storage all through the house. The Sleeping Modules each have private closets

the forum has been acting weirdly lately and the post notifications are taking forever to reach me. i apologise for not commenting before.

i like the concept very much. the boxes are like small buildings and the space around them like urban space where a lot of activities can happen. it could make for a very enjoyable living space.

i wonder if there is a client for this project. in the place where i live it would be very, very difficult to get away with it. people would say they like it but would prefer the traditional way.

let us know how it progresses.

A neat concept. When I saw the first pictures, I thought it might be a dormitory or other communal living arrangement. A nice way of having your own space without being separate from others.

I like it a lot. It's a great concept for a kid's bedroom. Lot's of exploring to do.
Why don't you add a few windows to the cells.
It's also flexible, the sleeping place could also be on top of the cell, and the computer/play/game space inside the cube.
You can also make the wall of the cell more flexible (curtain maybe) to create even more different space configurations.

Lot's of possiblities.

I picture this sleeping cell in the Ikea catalog of 2015!

Interesting concept, especialy the children's bed room.
But i don't like the idea to climb a ladder constantly to reach your computer. Maybe you can make the computer room better reachable.
But the idea could work i think, although it is only suitable for little children, if they get older they want their own room i think.

It might not be apparent in the view I posted, but there is a horizontal "window" space in each cell, oriented to have a clear view to the outside of the building.

I like the Ikea comment, that gives me an idea...

Yes, these are two very good points. I played with the idea of there being a stairway-accessible catwalk connecting the three cells on the upper level, but I haven't sorted out how best to do it.

My own children, by the way, are aged 10, 9, and 6. They think the cells are very cool, but I agree they might feel differently in a few years.

Thanks for the comments. I, too, wonder whether there is a client for this, though there are some interesting residential projects going on here (Minneapolis, MN)
