SU2KT already works on a Mac... it's just that KT did not.
I never knew that! I am going to have some serious fun when I get home from work tonight!!
What's the speed like on the mac? I'm rocking and rolling with a 24" iMac with 3 gigs of ram - is this speed anywhere like it would be if I was using windows? Does it support both cores? I downloaded it last night but haven't fooled around with it yet.
-
YES it run on both cores
and i think it's a very good product for mac users.
Just need for help manual for KT 2008 ECHO perhaps -

Just need for help manual for KT 2008 ECHO perhapsthanks Regis. I cannot wait to try this later- should be a step up from using my old Centrino laptop with 512 megs or ram to render.

A new Getting Started KT2008 tutorial is in progress at the moment...
And I expect this to be ready early next week... (Hopefully I'm able to upload it on Sunday evening, CET)In the meantime, I suggest that you download the Getting Started - KT2007 tutorial, since many of the basic principles are identical...

It did seem obvious, until I went to the download area, and saw that KT2007 had a 1/30/08 date in the description. That threw me off.
That's fully understandable... Sorry about that...
But this is because it has been moved to the "Older versions" folder in our repository...
But everything should be clear now - I hope... -
Thanx Frederik, I've got "guide de demarrage KT 2007" and i'm studying now using kt 2008 ECHO but i notice some changes with KT 2007.
And what is instance brush -

Yeah... Especially the Material Editor GUI has been improved...
But all basic principles remain... You only need to adapt the new GUI as well as many new features...And speaking of new features...
During the next weeks, you'll see more new features being available on the KT web-site...@regis said:

I suggest that you download the Instancing Brush Tutorial for 2008 Echo from our repository...

Thanx Frederik,
What a good tool it is -
Hello! I just downloaded Mac version.
I don't know about "Unix Executable File"
The question is How can i run this application?
Thanks for your help -
You need to run X11 and then start KT. More details from kerkythea.net forums if needed.
-
Notareal- Thank you.
Up and running! -
I dl'ed Kerkythea and like notareal I got the unix executable files. I then saw this thread and went to the Kerkythea forums. I could not find anything about X11 but did end up finding an article on Apples website telling me I could install X11 from my Tiger install DVD. I wanted to install it on the drive where OS X is installed but I got a message saying I would have to change my settings so I chose a different drive to install on and did a custom install for X11. Now when I click to launch X11 nothing happens. When I click to launch Kerkythea nothing happens.
I feel stupid asking but could someone tell me the best way to install X11 so that I don't screw up my existing OS.
-
You need to uninstal KT then install X11. restart machine and install KT.

i had no problems installing X11 and KT but i did it on the same drive my OS is. i think you need the system for X11 to run.
in my experience, there is no need to uninstall KT before you install X11.
good luck.

WOW! Interface is so much better than 2007 version. Plugin on SketchUp actually has more than one use too!
Just tested a render on it, did a 4000x3000 render at high qual in under a minute on my 2.4gHz quad core. The shadowing was all wrong but I have no idea how to adjust the setting yet, will be looking forward to that beginners guide! I hope you go through all the options and what they do
Only thing I am concerned about is 2/3 times I tried to render it the application crashed when I tried to view the image in the picture window...
-
Thanks Edson for that tip! I'm just getting around to
setting the program up.Mike
-
another info for the ones planning to install x11: this software is not in the same folder as the system itself but in the one called Optional Installs.mpkg (after you open it, look for x11 under Applications). it is also advisable to install X11SDK.pkg (in the dvd: XCodeTools-->Packages-->X11SDK.pkg).

Hey Folks!
Some of the latest news about Kerkythea and it's content...
People have been posting some very impressive stuff lately in the Wip and Finished Projects categories. Please come and join us! We'd love to see your work. Since no one makes a dollar or euro from Kerkythea, seeing your work is our only reward.

Please download the latest update for KT 2008 which fixes a few things... some AA things for models miles from origin, and some multi-threading issues.2
We have been trying to update the KT Wiki lately. It is not a fun job.
Mostly we have focused on the tutorials section, so browse thru there, if you want to see some tutorials for Kerkythea, but have not found them yet.3
There are some new model libraries of Trees and flowers for you to use with KT 2008 Echo. They will only work with KT 2008 Echo, no other version. They work great with the instancing brush.
-To install them, simply unzip them into Kerkythea's program's model folder.
-To insert them into a model go to the model Insert pulldown.4
There are finally many great new procedural materials created for KT.
Download them from the plugins section.
Video Tutorial for installing them here. (sorry, but until we find a geek who owns a mac willing to learn how to create these for Mac, they are only available for PC... anyone out there?!)5
There are some great new hi-res materials provided for Kerkythea users. "Material library containing 4 wooden floors from Lis textures. These textures have kindly been provided to the KT community and with credits to Andrzei Gasior" -
wow this is great!!
