KERKYTHEA 2008 ECHO EDITION HAS BEEN RELEASED
-
Kerkythea Rendering System 2008 Echo Edition has now been released!
It has been a long year of waiting, but Kerkythea, the latest version of the incredibly simple, powerful, and amazingly flexible render system, powered by Thea Render Engine v2.0, is now available at the Kerkythea website.
Kerkythea 2008 Echo is a full staging application for rendering your models. And now it’s available for ALL MAJOR PLATFORMS… PC, Linux, and MacOSx! It accepts .3ds or .obj models, as well as having powerfully developed free exporters for SketchUp, Blender, and 3dsMax/GMax.
The power of Kerkythea lies in it’s simplicity… you may set up your lights and materials once, but you may experiment with more than 6 different rendering ‘methods’ including Photon Map and Final Gathering (biased method similar to “Radiosity”) or ranging up to Metropolis Light Transport (unbiased). With even more render modes easily accessible from the one-click preset list. You may setup your materials, lights, environment once but experiment with various different render modes.
Introducing the Kerkythea Instancing Brush, Adding the "Echo" to Kerkythea.
It features instancing by loading the “Brush” with any model or group of models and painting (scattering) instances of that onto any model “canvas” object you choose. Or, you can choose auto-population of the canvas determined by grid, or driven by image mask!
Additional Unbiased Render Method
Now featuring MLT(BiPT) Metropolis Light Transport on top of Bidirectional Path Tracing to handle the most demanding indirect lighting scenes.
Robust and Completely Re-Vamped Material EditorNow featuring nk/ior measured data support, synthesis layer, procedural ramps, improved materials and the new plugin SDK for user developed customized objects.
Also featuring:
-15-25% render speed increase
-Multithreadingsupport for all render methods
-Network rendering to unlimited machines/threads/cross-platform
-Instancing and grouping of Lights or Models
-Sun/Sky Portals,
-Supersampling
-Physical Camera definition enhancements
-Parallel View Rendering for plans/elevations, etc.
-IES Light implementation
-Render Passes: Specular, Light, Diffuse, and Diffuse Texture
-Improved depth map rendering
-Alpha channel auto-recognitionfor .png and .tif files
-Drop and align commands
-and muchmore…Kerkythea now supports a zipped xml version (kzx extension) for saving files which, combined with instancing, can result in file sizes 5% to 10% the size of previous versions’ saved .xml scenes.
The new multi-platform plugin SDK implementation allows users to write their own plugins including new procedural textures, materials, and lights.
These are available for download from Kerkythea.net.

You just made my year.
Any word on a Mac version of the SU2KT exporter?
-
SU2KT already works on a Mac... it's just that KT did not.
-
Thanks Guys can't wait to get stuck in!
-
Much appreciation and thanks to all who made this possible and for sharing such a great product.
One question, is KT2007 a new release also, and is this different than KT Echo?

Thought it was very obvious...
KT2007 vs. KT2008 Echo...
KT2007 = Last years release
KT2008 = The latest release with many new features... -
Kim,
It did seem obvious, until I went to the download area, and saw that KT2007 had a 1/30/08 date in the description. That threw me off.
Thanks

I never knew that! I am going to have some serious fun when I get home from work tonight!!
What's the speed like on the mac? I'm rocking and rolling with a 24" iMac with 3 gigs of ram - is this speed anywhere like it would be if I was using windows? Does it support both cores? I downloaded it last night but haven't fooled around with it yet.
-
YES it run on both cores
and i think it's a very good product for mac users.
Just need for help manual for KT 2008 ECHO perhaps -

Just need for help manual for KT 2008 ECHO perhapsthanks Regis. I cannot wait to try this later- should be a step up from using my old Centrino laptop with 512 megs or ram to render.

A new Getting Started KT2008 tutorial is in progress at the moment...
And I expect this to be ready early next week... (Hopefully I'm able to upload it on Sunday evening, CET)In the meantime, I suggest that you download the Getting Started - KT2007 tutorial, since many of the basic principles are identical...

That's fully understandable... Sorry about that...
But this is because it has been moved to the "Older versions" folder in our repository...
But everything should be clear now - I hope... -
Thanx Frederik, I've got "guide de demarrage KT 2007" and i'm studying now using kt 2008 ECHO but i notice some changes with KT 2007.

Yeah... Especially the Material Editor GUI has been improved...
But all basic principles remain... You only need to adapt the new GUI as well as many new features...And speaking of new features...
During the next weeks, you'll see more new features being available on the KT web-site...@regis said:
