An entire chile is an all- out assault on the senses, akin to swigging a cocktail of battery acid and glass shards...

...And how hot is the bhut jolokia? As a way of comparison: Classic Tabasco sauce ranges from 2,500 to 5,000 Scoville units. Your basic jalapeño measures anywhere from 2,500 to 8,000. The previous record holder, the Red Savina habanero, was tested at up to 580,000 Scovilles.

The bhut jolokia crushed those contenders, testing at 1,001,304 Scoville units.

Yo, Eric, the beauty of these peppers in "HU" is that they - apart from being "hot" - taste so much different! Even from each other.

You can actually taste them I would think that after the writhing pain, severe sweating and convulsions you could not taste anything.

as I understand it the chilli is addictive in the same way long distance running or swimming is. Apparently chilli makes the body believes it's on fire and the brain releases endorphines to sooth the anticipated pain - these endorphines are addictive and the more chilli you eat - the more chilli you want to eat.
