It won't be long.

As far as Google's reluctance to talk about what they're up to, they seem to have a flat policy not to talk about that stuff. I believe they're being cautious--perhaps overly so--about repeating some of Microsoft's mistakes. You may recall that in the early days of Windows, Microsoft used to regularly issue press announcements about their great plans for the OS, along with estimated roll-out dates. When their plans slipped and they delayed software releases for months or even years, they took quite a huge amount of flack for it. I believe that's when the term "vaporware" entered the lexicon.
Microsoft's image never quite recovered from those days, and that was part of where they got their terrible reputation and low esteem among the public at large. I think Google's theory is that if they don't make promises, they can't break them.
In any event, the suspense is nearly at an end.

Edited to correct misspellings. I know, who cares?

Or else they don't care and aren't doing much. AEC and by extension 3D modeling is not part of their core search/advertising financial continuum. I've been worried about that since they bought @Last. I suspect that if the Google Overlords weren't so besotted with the science fiction novel "Snowcrash" they would not have acquired Keyhole (Google Earth), and they only bought and free-bied SketchUp as a quick way to fill GE with visual content.

Probably right John
What I find hard to fathom is why, when firstly they were going to 'migrate' in 3 days, it is now taking the best part of a month?
Google are saying its taking so long because they want to get everything right
Yeah .....makes you wonder what they had in mind for their original move.... -
Stu, my guess would be:
"Absolutely nut'n!"
-
i´m confident
i think they´ll make it, fair enoughany bets
-
my bet would be that google would have opened one group to replace the entire forum, and then just shut down the other forums while they did the migration in the background.
i guess we did make a little difference...
