Need help for making portfolio
-
Apologies if this gets posted twice, but my previous post hasn't shown up in minutes...
My suggestion: Try LayOut first. It comes with SketchUp Pro, and is much easier to get started with. It also adds the capability to present your portfolio to a room full of people and still manipulate in 3D.
I don't know how you learn best, but either read LayOut's docs, watch LayOut videos at http://sketchup.google.com/gsu6vtvideos.html, or just start putting models into LayOut and work on a prototype, then ask questions if you get stuck. Of course, my opinion is biased because (a) I work for Google and (b) I've likely seen more really nice quality work in LayOut than people who haven't used LayOut much. Let us know how it works for you.

Hey, Modelhead - I'd really like to know your interactions as well with LayOut. There's no way a beta product is gong to top InDesign, but there are some nice things with 3D being displayed and printed in a 2D world that LayOut will clearly do better in this market segment. We're always working on improvements, so if there's some feedback you can provide, let's hear it. Thanks.

Yes, Barry, true, I totally forgot about LO's capabilities in an interactive presentation (and concentrated on a printed version - well, old guy perceives novelty hardly)
I think that I will also give it a shot soon as I'm planning to do some 3D modelling in tow (and for the township) and it'd be nice to present the material to the local representatives of the council (some of then cannot even switch on a computer)

No crows, but way too much Google food if you attend 3D Basecamp .

do u guys have some examples of portfolio?? can u upload them pls

Is this specifically a portfolio in layout or just a portfolio?
If its the latter, lots of people have links to their work in their signatures.

Shreesti,
Here is a portfolio I made a while back.
Still needs some correcting but I hope it helps.Mateo

Modelhead,
A bit unsure at some point what Shreesti wanted - a sample portfolio or
a portfolio made entirely in layout.
Mine was done in Corel. I spent some time trying to get in grips with layout
but soon gave up . There is obviously more to it than I have discovered but
after more than ten Years with Corel at the moment I really do not have the
patience to change. -
I didnt use LO at all, only Photoshop and Corel, Maybe Adobe Illustrator would
be a better option because is compatible with PS but as I said I met Mr Corel
first and I am sticking to him for the time being, as for the offer of the floppies
thanks a lot - are they compatible with the newer versions ,I am on Coreldraw 12 . -
If you have a look at that link there seem to be a portfolio made with Sketchup LO
