Podium for Mac
-
I became aware a few weeks ago that that there will be a Mac version of Podium. I have monitored their site in anticipation and came across a thread on their forum trying to gauge the interest in the Mac version. While I doubt it will hinder the release for the Mac, it might not hurt to chime in if you are interested in this. The specific thread is under Wishlist/please release Mac version http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/mb/supodiumforum.

Hi Tim,
I understand Tavi (TBD) is working hard on the Mac version and its hoped to have it soon,
lets keep our fingers crossedI've just read another good article of yours '3D Modeler Cheetah 4.4' in Mac User, well done

Mike,
I'm not the same Tim that wrote the article you mentioned but I agree it is a good article. He has done all Tims proud.I have been impressed with the rendering examples on the Podium site and the fact it works within SketchUp is very appealing. It looks like it will make SketchUp even more fun to use.

This is from the Cadalog newsletter:
"(...) We are still working on Podium 2.0 which will support both Windows
and the Mac. We are sorry for the delays but we think this will be a
significant release. To be honest, we are still weeks away from a public
beta version. Feel free to keep asking us on Podium 2.0's progress."Just a little more patience ...

Yeah, I've received it, too. Interesting and exciting. Looking forward to the results.

As am I. I have a suspicion it'll be a fine tool. And I'm quite eager to see what the new UI is like. There's bound to be some changes, as new features will be added. My guess is the Podium team will try its best to retain a clutter-free UI that allows for a straigthforward workflow.
As I have a limited brain, that's just the way I like it.

'Workflow' is TBD's (Tavi's) middle name

Thats one of the main reasons I use Podium, the workflow within SU is simple and I can get visualizations out to clients faster, which makes me available faster for more work.

i'm pretty sure i read that podium already has a working os x version but they are unable to (and will not be able to) release it due to licensing issues with kerkythea (which i think podium osx is based off of)...
i'll try to find a link..
[edit] -- here ->
http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/supodiumforum/vpost?id=2406470so i guess they will be releasing a mac version eventually but it's going to be a different engine than the version they have now..

That's right. 2.0 will be using another engine. Is it good? Yes, it is. In fact, it's very good. Stay tuned.

Nope. As far as I know, TBD and his little helpers are still tinkering away.
It'll come, it'll come.

Alpha 3 is being tested internally, but there is lots of work to do. I can't elaborate on timescale though I'm afraid.
