    Howdy...

I was just wanting to know if there was any fix for that flashing/'bugging out' shadows problem in avi export when the camera moves through complicated geometry. Is it a graphics card problem at all?

Thanks, and keep up the good work!

No, it's a "native" SU glitch. There used to be a solution for it (in/until SU4 afaik) but due to some copyright issues it cannot be implemented in SU any more.
Try not to go into / out of shadows in the animation.

      Gai...

        Hi -Rich-.

Gai beat me to it. Pretty much what he said though, wishing they would fix this though, so annoying!

Yeah, it really is a hassle to have the shadows disappear when walking through a model. Suddenly the whole thing goes flat...There is little point to having shadows if they make your animations look like they've come down with disco fever.

It happens when you(the camera) passes under an object that is casting a shadow, or to put it another way, its when the camera passes through the shadow of another object.

If its a street scene then try and set the sun/shadows so that there's an 'unshadowed' section of road you can travel along.

If your going from the outside of a building to the inside then export the first section (outside) with the shadows on then export the second section (inside) with the shadows off. If you overlap the exports (Scene 1-5, Scenes 4-10) you can blend them in Adobe Premiere elements or similar.

Neither are solutions but as work around's go their OK.

Ha - now if I could only convince the bosses to buy a Premiere suite just for SU videos...

You don't need the full Premiere, just Premiere Elements its only £60 or you can buy it with Photoshop elements for about £100

                Here's the Adobe website link:
                http://www.adobe.com/products/psprelements/

Just make sure its the new versions as a lot of stores have the older versions on the shelves, v6 for Photoshop Elements & v4 for Premiere Elements.

Also have a look at this post, it's a tutorial for using Premiere Elements with SU:
