      Hi Geoff,

I'm not sure I understand what you mean to model but is it something like this attatched?

Hi Gaieus, Mate I can't open the attachment you sent me as I have Sketchup 5. Is there some other way I can open the file?

      Cheers
      Geoff

Thanks Gaieus. Yes that's exactly what I want to achieve. How would I draw that? Is there a specific video tutorial for drawing something like that?

          Cheers

            Not really.

This is like step by step:

            1. Draw a circle (remember it midpoint - in my example it was at the origin)
            2. push-pull it up
            3. turn hidden geometry on
            4. select one facet and turn into a component
            5. edit the component and push/pull its face out a bit (this is the thickness of the plank)
            6. delete the rest of the well (keep the bottom circle for water if you wish) and Copy/rotate the component around the midpoint of the circle.

It takes longer to write it down than to make it.

I really appreciate your help with this Gaieus. I'm about to hit the sack as it's getting late here, but I'll give it a crack tomorrow and I'll let you know how I got on.

              Cheers

An even easier method, if you wanted the planks to appear mitered ...as in barrel staves...would be to simply use a circle, as shown. If you wanted to show separation on the top edge, you just draw in the lines joining the outer and inner circles.

                  Hi folks.

If you want to avoid drawing the lines, suggested by Alan, one by one, see the attached SU file for ideas.
