Hey guys, my Printer $Censored to protect your privacy#% itself over the weekend. Not bad for 6 years of service.....

What do you recommend in the way of an A3 printer? mostly for CAD / illustration output. Have had a HP 1125C Deskjet which has served me well.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

        ebay...

HP... anything wide format... but I would especially look at the scanner printers... they are awesome if you do any sketching...

I'm pretty cheap... so I always type in the price I want to pay and then start looking at models that fit my needs...

yeah as far as printers I've always liked HP... they seem to be very poular and that means lots of info on the net when you have problems... my 450 is still going strong... so who knows how long they could last...

You could always try the HP 1280. I think it is the latest in the line of printer you have and seems a pretty reasonable price for a good quality A3.
I use the earlier 1220 at work and it performs very well.

                  Andrew,
I was going to get one of these
                  http://www.canon.com.au/products/printe ... x4000.aspx
untill i figured that I only need A4s for concepts and still get final A3 images digitally printed for a couple of $.
                  I ended up getting a Canon A4 printer/copier/scanner for less than $200

i have been using the Epson 1520 (no relation to me...) for about 5 years with excellent results. perhaps they have an equivalent model now. worth checking.

Thanks guys, the printer is A3 capable but is almost twice as dear as the HP 1280 dylan mentioned. the HP1125c i have been using is a preceeding model of these 1280, 1220 models and I can't complain..
Will have a look at the epson [thanks edson] and Canon [thanks Stu and James]What is this "wide format" that you mention Kris?

                      Cheers,

We have a Canon i9900 that works really well for us and can do up to 13x19, which is a bonus for presentation work.
