New forums are ON NOW

Well, as of now 48 members and 2 posts today.
And my membership is just pending... and pending...
Although I could find myself among the posts with the same Google ID I use (and I used the same email address and screen name in the Old Forums, too).Wel...

I'm "pending" too -- for the last 12 hours or so. What I find confusing is there is almost no explanation of this joining process. I'm not clear if my 'pending' status is for all the subgroups (as I'd like it to be) or will I end up having to make separate requests for each subgroup. I can imagine the signing up process will help limit spam -- that's a good thing. I wonder if the bigger reason for the signing up process relates to the requests from many that the new "Pro" groups keep out the imagined throngs of free GoogleSU users. Anyways, this signing up process is confusing because of a lack of information. I'm also surprised that Google haven't posted explanations in each subgroup about what has happened or is happening. As it is right now the migrated postings about the migration must be confusing to anyone who doesn't know what its all about. I'm sure there are now people who never saw the old forums, now showing up on the doorstep of the new groups.

all our secrets in the front line
well at least it seems nothing is lost. -
Still "Pending" days later, despite every combination of username/password between my login for the old forum and my login for the original 'free' group. It's not a lot of use if you can't contribute.
-
same here
-
That's weird, I set up a Google account yesterday, received my activation email and joined the SU group straight away.
Is it activating the Google account or joining the groups that's pending for you guys?

Joining the group. It doesn't make any difference whether I use my existing Google account for the free forum to apply for the Pro one, or whether I use my existing Pro details to try to log in. I can log in ok, but it still says I'm pending and can't post.
It doesn't look terribly inviting anyway. I'm close to just giving up. -
Alan, I had to cancel my subscription, and then re-up. That worked immediately.

I just cannot join.
I have a Google account with the same screen name and email address I used in the Old Forums. I want to join with that but it still say pending...
The funniest thing is that since all my old posts were transferred, I can find them, click on my profile there (next to my name in the thread) and see my existing Google profile with all the posts listed either in the (old) Pro forums or the Free SU GG Forums. So it's obviously me but I still cannot join.@unknownuser said:

How can I cancel my subscription if I haven't even subscribed at all (not joined)?
I don't want to cancel my Google account if that's what you mean - it would mena that I have to "re-do" all subscriptions for all those different services I already use.
-
I had to do the same
-first cancel everything-
start from 0input the same and it worked
-
Juan,
Cancel what? Your subscription to the new forum or your Google account?
-
everything
start from 0
and then after a little while input the same, same e-mail, same passwords, etc -
And then lose all posts and everything that was there before.
And start my calendar settings and entries from the beginning, my warehouse models, my Google sitemaps, my personalised search settings and everything. No way, Juan. They should be able to fix this.
-
well I dont know about that
but maybe since you enter the same e-mail and password everything should remain the same.
it is a risk yes. -
Gaieus,
Just go to Edit My Membership, click the Cancel button on the bottom right, and rejoin. Another in the series of clumsy glitches in this never ending transition process, I'm afraid.

Yes, Gully, I've done that. Also saw your post there and replied. Thanks for the help (here I just did not know what they mean by cancelling: my Google account or the membership there - that's why I hesitated).
Now I'm a member there, too.
-
Gai, if you click on the "pending" link, there will be another button to cancel your pending membership request. Click on that, then, go back and join. You won't lose anything.
Todd
EDIT: OK, I see you got it! Great!

glad you found the way Csaba
-
Todd, Thanks, done it already. Explained above.
(I see you posting in the free forums more frequently nowadays )
