Rigging a Quadruped
-
Haven't posted in a while. Sorry, but you'll have to go to my blog for images - better my bandwidth, than yours Coen.
The Fuel & Fire comic inches a long. Here is the first of a few posts that will outline my attempts to build a posing rig for a quadruped in SketchUp.
Here is my latest post on the rig:

love your rigging system justin.... (along with everything else)... really cant wait to see this all come together!

Okay, I'm done with the rig, and I created some poses. Check them out on my blog:

(to limit bandwidth on this site)I'll probably work on the Stone Age pose a little - not as close as I like... but it was all to test the rig.
Believe it or not the posing was pretty quick to do, I was surprised.

Really nice work on this. I'm particularly impressed by the clothing on your model of Sam too.
Perhaps you could put together a rigging tutorial?
-
Thatās Fantastic. Iām going to have a bad dream after looking at the fears face of hunter13.jpg
This is the first time I have seen rigging in SU.poster-Director Bob

Great work as always Justin!! Really looks like a powerful yet fast moving creature! The running image has me thinking that the hunter has more of an ape/gorilla/baboon stride than a canine/cheetah based stride? What's your inspiration on its movement?

Director Bob, sorry for the nightmares
CraigD, he's more like a cheetah than an ape. I was trying out some power sizing with the front limbs. When he's just in the stand pose I think the size difference with the front and back works, but after posing I don't think it works so well. I'm working on fixing that now.
(I'll be thickening the hind legs)

RodentPete - I wrote a tutorial like thing back in January, here's a link.

The man who is adding fluidity and motion to this medium...great job bro!!!
Like CraigD said "Really looks like a powerful yet fast moving creature!ā Most of the big fast cats use the tail as counter-balance when pursuing their target. Have you thought of adding one to Hunter? Or it must be using alien technologyā¦ooooohhhhhh!!! Still great work MZ, can't wait for the next monster you cook
-
Hehe, I think it has a counter balancing tail, only thing is that it is cloaked 24/7 using technology developed by the Klingons which he purchased (for a few thousand darsek and twelve Romulan slaves) from a rogue Klingon military officer, K'Eldhykur, seeking to be reinstated as second in command of a warship.

I didn't seem to refer to a video I made with regards to this character.
