Concept of a Residential Building

In London at Hammersmith Roundabout there is a building whose walls pitch out like yours, I can't remember its name but its quite famous. It produced a problem that nobody foresaw, the sound of the traffic bounced off the walls and was reflected back down to the local residents.
If you were to add louvres/fin etc. to break up the smooth reflective suftace it would prevent this problem.Good point indeed, but this building is not one massive wall, the gardens are open, so i think it will not produce so much sound. But maybe i can put plant material on those walls or something.

The ceilings of the gardens could indeed reflect noise from the streets onto the gardens themselves so anything that breaks it would be useful...

I now know what this building design look's like!
Look at Gizmo form the gremlins, this building look's like him a bit E Smile

Yeah, and he has his ears set up like your gardens to collect more noise!

yeah indeed
ths bulding is gonna be the new home of the gremlins.

I like your idea and concept, although im not sure if you could get enough sunlight into those gardens.
At the moment im finding the building not that pleasing to look at, but I think a lot of that is to do with your colours/materials. Im not keen on all that red and also those cross members in black. Maybe play around with these materials and it will look better imo.

I also love the concept and agree with Dylan that it's a little harsh on the eyes right now. I also think getting more sunlight to the gardens using mirrors could be problematic, it could be very distracting to near by buildings and traffic. There was a thread on the pro forums I believe, concerning sun glare reflecting off of a building and becoming a safety issue for motor traffic and pedestrians.

Yeah you are right about the materials, i have changed it a bit.
Do you think it is better now? ( see attachements )poster: gforce

The building is now almost finished.
It isn't very realistic anymore but it look's quite futuristic now.poster: gforce

Ready to take off you mean?

now all it needs is a render!
nice work BTW! i like the last version with the "lookout" posts on the pillars! -
The bridge over the Danube in Bratislava has a lookout post like these
-
the view would be sweeeeeet from up there...
how do u suppose they reach up there????? 8O -
There are some lifts/elevators in the pillars or what they are. I haven't been up there just under - when we were travelling over to Slovakia.

It's grown
I like it Gforce, well done. Looks better without the red.
As Jenu just mentioned, it would look interesting with a render. -
I remembered the name of the building in London, its called 'The ark' and its by Ralph Erskine, here's a link:

I tried rendering it in Kerkeytea, but it didn't look very good, and if i see the proffesional renders on this forum it must be possible to get a better reslult.poster: gforce

its really not that bad u know....
when rendering u must make sure that the faces are in the right direction.... to do that switch to monochromatic view and chk for the blue colour and simply reverse it! of cozin the new Su2Kt ver 3.0 this shouldn't be a problem....
another thing is the Glass.... make sure u model it with single faces and rename the material with TG_XXX... where xxx can be any name... this will automatically enable the Thin Glass shader on the glass material once imported into KT... there are a whole lots of other features within the Su2KT 3.0....
make sure u download the getting started tutorial from the KT repository.. its especially meant for the SU user...
http://www.kerkythea.net/joomla/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=42&func=startdown&id=35another thing... in KT if ur rendering an outdoor exterior scene lit only by the sun u could use PPT (Progressive Path Tracing) for realistic results... it might look grainy at first but after a few passes it should clear up!
regarding the scene.. imagine rendering as takin a photo.. unless u have helicopter access or unless u get access to the terrace of a nearby high rise building i dont think u can take that shot in real life! so how bout lowering the cam to the human eye level??
also lose the 2d trees.. model some ground features, pavements, street lights, add some cars.. plaay with light and shadows...join the forum at the KT website... much more seasoned users can help u!
have fun!
