    Hello all,

I'm using SU6. I'm having a problem with Components/Group Editing selection settings to remain as selected.

I've tried setting them, saving the drawing, then exiting the software, then opening SU. But once I edit a group or component, the settings revert back to, I guess the default setttings.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks. Ben

at a guess i'd say that there's probably somewhere else where you can change the settign permanently. perhaps window->prefrences?

oh, and whats the specific setting that keeps reverting?

Once you get your settings as you like them, save the file and move it to your templates folder...then in preferences set that file as your startup template.

Remus: Fade Rest of Model, Hide.

Tom: So there is no way to keep the settings for each Model? How to I save this file to use as a template?

          Thanks everyone. Ben

to save a model to use for a template, jsut create the default window youd like to see when you start up SU,a slo apply all the settigns you'd like to hav for your model. when youve done this, save it as normal. then go to window->preferences->template and browse for your model. this way SU will always load that 'model' (there probably wont be anything in the file) every time you start up SU.

To create a template Ben, open SU and setup your required settings.
Save this blank skp to your templates folder:

              C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 6\Templates

Once back in SU go to Window/Preferences and choose your template just created from the dropdown box.

                Dylan and Remus,

                Appreciate the help.

So, are you both saying that you can't save individual settings under "Model Info" for each model or SU file? And why don't the settings "hold" while working within the same model. I can set the Model Info once, then minutes later, have to reset it. Is this just an SU bug?

                Ben

                  Ben,
The template that you have selected (chosen) in Preferences keeps all your settings for when you start SU.
So you can start your new model with these settings.
But SU keeps (saves) all equal or new settings with the models you create. So next time when loading a model it will appear on screen with its settings.
In other words, you start SU, see the template settings, load a model A, see its settings A the way you saved A, load model B, see its settings B the way you saved it etc.
                  Just the way you want.
Whenever you see different settings in your model after working with it they were probably saved in a different Scene within that model. Each Scene in a model can have different settings.

Thanks everyone. I realize now that as I wasn't updating my scenes after resetting the Model Info/Components diaglog box.
