With the new release, I can no longer choose to download the model and save it to some location other than in my open model.
10 people in the class I was teaching had the same problem.

We ARE able to download into the model, but if we say "NO" we don't want to load into model then the usual dialogue that allows you to save to folder on your drive WILL NOT open.

As I replied "over there" already, I tried to do it with an older release in the office here so that's why it succeeded. But the case is that when I choose NO, it does not offer a place to download but instead, a new instance of SU opens. And as far as I remember (SU5), it's always been this way (so you need to save it first from SU to be able to reload the component in the original instance).

I noticed this too, however opening another instance of SU and then downloading the model and saving to your imported component folder is just as easy.

Gai, I promise you I have been teaching this excercise to classloads since March and I was always able to to browse to a folder to save it to.
The excercise requires one, in mid model, to download and save to a folder. If it at least opened another sketchUp instance, as it does for you, I could save each new instance to a folder. But it doesn't do that for me either. I get absolutely nothing when I pick "NO".

the other alternativer therefore is to download several into an open model and then right click and "save as" a component for each one. However, that is by no means as easy as saving each one in a single step from 3D warhouse.

Well, I believe you, I may not have used the get model function for maybe a year now (I always browse the warehouse with my Firefox browser and open or save things with it. But my 6.0.1099 doesthis, as I posted.

This issue has bothered me too since latest (forced) update!

Gaieus, slight chance that you remember me asking why I could not see scene tabs when downloading from 3DW. It appeared to be that a couple of times I was to hasty and without noticing it I loaded into a new model (empty). See:
                http://groups.google.com/group/sketchuphowto/browse_frm/thread/f3e00fd1c45beb9c/b53ffe1138ce2b49?lnk=gst&q=wodan3+tabs#b53ffe1138ce2b49

Pete’s suggestion looks alright but then you need to already switch to that new opened SU instance to load the model. In which case the question: “Load this directly into your Google Sketchup model” is totally irrelevant. It is your model at by then. There just is NO OTHER WAY!!!!!
About saving the model somewhere on your drive, I can’t recall this (direct) option but Susan definitely has a point.
However. There is another thing going on here. Many of these models do have scenes included. There is just no way to retrieve them with the model, loading from 3DW the way it is presented to us by latest version of SU.
When you answer "NO" the computer does act. But is the model saved in a temp.-folder or what?
Looks like a BUG to me.

Well, I didn't remember your reply there (maybe I never went back to that thread).
I't quite a serious issue for Google now as they rely on the uploads to the WH
