New Version?
-
I wish for an updated version of LayOut that actually works without crashing and the output can be controlled like a normal program.
-
I second that emotion... Currently trying to print out for a presentation with a very complex Sketchup file. Every move I make is followed by 30 seconds of excruciating nothing.
And... Unless I'm missing them:
- a measuring tape..? I can count grid lines, but...
- and some way of telling whether the Document Settings page specification and the printer setup actually have met each other.

"I wish for an updated version of LayOut that actually works without crashing . . "
" . . and controlled like a normal program."Ah well . . sounds like you have Layout 'Beta', which is an old egyptian word meaning "always crashes and cant be controlled like a normal program".
What you really need to get hold of is Layout 1.1 (1.1 is an old Greek word meaning finished at last and not crashing (working like a normal programme)). But remember . . you will have to pay more money for the one that almost works! Its only fair . . after all, you have had a lot of fun trying to guess what the Beta one is going to do next!

I don't mind paying as long as the program is fixed and supported - neither of which is currently happening. Heck, I'd settle for some small indication that the program is even on Google's radar.

Are you part of the SketchUp beta group? If not, I can hook you up. Being part
of this group would give you news much sooner than waiting for a release to happen.Jeff

GoogleJeff,
I'm confused......is there another Beta of LO....or are you referring to the current LO Version(SU PRO).
best,
Charlie -
Hi Charlie, there is an internal beta program for SketchUp Pro that includes Layout. These are newer versions that are not released publicly and are undergoing much more rapid changes.
For these programs, we solicit feedback frequently and update fairly often.
I hope that helps explains what my friend Jeff was saying a little more. If you'd be interested, we'd welcome you (and others) to the internal beta program!
Cheers,
- CraigD

Craig,
Thanks for the clarity.I'm game......will you provide the particulars on how to participate, or point me in the direction?
Best,
Charlie

Would LO Beta happen to have dimensioning capability?
-
Hank (or others) if you are interested in the "internal" beta releases, join the beta tester team (especially if it is being publicly "recruited" like here) rather than asking in public forums. Beta testers have to sign a "Non Disclosure Agreement" so they are not supposed to answer your questions here.
Above the SU Team mean that before publicly releasing a newr verion of LO or SU, it is beta tested and bug fixed (as much as possible). These are not public betas until they are publicly released.
LO in its current, public version is still a beta software but this is called "public beta".

Okay.....Well....sooooo....hmmm a Beta for the beta.
I guess I'll just wait for an invitation. :~)
