    James,

Not sure it helps but try this CCleaner out (use the "fix problems" tab) there might be some registry or other "crap" left on your machine:

      James,

You might want to give the Windows Tweak UI Powertoy a try. It's got a module called Rebuild Icons that might work for you. If you're not familiar with the Windows Powertoys, they are a series of system utilities created by the Microsoft Windows development team and offered as no-cost downloads from the MS website. Tweak UI offers a number of useful enhancements, mostly Registry hacks, through an Explorer-like interface.

The XP Powertoys are available at: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/down ... rtoys.mspx

Upon reflection, it occurs to me you might also want to try msconfig. This is a Windows system utility that you can invoke with Run > msconfig. It consists of a tabbed dialog that gives you access to a number of startup options. The last tab lists all the programs and services that run when you start Windows, and gives you the opportunity to disable them. You may see a suspicious-looking program (or several) that you recognize as part of the icon toy that messed you up and just uncheck it or them, deactivating it.

          James,
you could also check on the giveaway of the day site, under the day that prog came up to see what the discussion is. I always read through them first, just incase. If someone else had your issue, then they might have also found how to deal with it without you having to further research it. I have seen this type of response before.
