Import keyboard shortcuts problem
-
when I use window>preferences>shortcuts>import to retrieve keyboard shortcuts I had previously exported, the stock sketchup shortcuts seem to take precedence whenever there is a difference command associated with that key. anyone else run into this, or am I missing something obvious?
-
this happens to me too, the workaround is to remove all keyboard shortcuts manually, before importing your new dat file.
-
Hi All,
Another work around is to export the shortcuts to a file named something like 'shortcuts.dat' and then import that file instead of the preferences.dat.
Hope that helps.
-
the import works when erasing all shortcuts beforehand as santiagom mentioned. Brad, can you simply rename the file you are trying to import? I am getting mixed results trying your method.. sometimes importing preferences.dat will work and other names won't.

Any resolution on this? I was having the same trouble over the weekend.

And what about the NDA?

update on a solution for this:
sketchup stores all of the shortcuts in the windows registry:
start>run>regedit
browse to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER>
Software>
Google>
SketchUp6>
Settingsyou will see a list of the shortcuts here. delete all of the keys to reset all of the shortcuts to nothing
start sketchup, and use the import dialog to bring in your shortcuts, there will be no conflicts since there are no assigned previous shortcuts
you can see in the registry that your shortcuts are now in the "settings" folder
if you want, you can right click the settings folder and export it to your desktop. from now on, in order to reset your shortcuts to your preferences, just double click the .reg file you created - no conflicts, no problems -
hey mirjman,
thank you very much. the .reg file works perfectly fine! such a cool thing!!!
hencefoth I will travel the world not without this secret weapon within my pocket (usb stick)

mirjman - Thank you for the hack. I'll keep that handy in my bag of tricks.
