Precise positioning or start point

Hi everyone,
I'm new to sketchup. It seems great.
I'm reading the docs, but I can't find a way to do precise positioning.Imagine I have a square, 10 units in width and 10 units in height, and I want to make another square inside of it. I want the new square to be located 2 units from the outer square left border (in x) and 6 units from the top border (in y). How do I do that ?
Another example, I have a square (still 10x10), and I want to divide it up by drawing a new line inside. The resulting two rectangles must be 3.5x10 and 6.5x10
How would you do that ? Is there a way ?
It would be amazing sketchup lacks such basic features...

Read the help about Construction lines or Guides.
Read it also about how to specify precise measurements in the VCB (Visual Control Box).
Look at all the video tutorials.
For your last question about dividing a 10x10 square, you can draw a guide at 3.5 units from a side. Then you draw a line between the intersection of this guide with the two neighbor sides. You can delete the guide when done.
If you still do not succeed, come back, we are here to help each other and have fun with this superb software.

Only after you have followed Jeanâs advice
try this:answer to 1)
Select and group the square, move+Ctrl (=copy) it (any distance) to the left and
directly after type 12 (this will go in the VCB) and hit [Enter].
Now move that new group up, type 16 and hit [Enter].
(Or move it down and immediately type 6 and hit [Enter]).answer to 2)
Move+Ctrl (=copy) the top edge downwards any distance, type 3.5 (=solution a) or 6.5 (=b)
and hit [Enter].
(Or move+Ctrl the bottom edge upwards any distance, type 6.5 (=a) or 3.5 (=b) and hit [Enter]).
(no guides needed this time)Using SU successfully is a matter of practice.
