Not a Newbie but Its a new problem I've never come across be

I'm creating a seating component to use (and share) but there is some issue with deleting lines. When I delete one of the lines that aren't required, it becomes a profile thickness line and won’t delete unless I delete the face it is on and then it will delete.
There are three components in it as it is a wooden seat with cham corners but it happens on most if not most of the lines!
It’s getting frustrating and I would like to know if it happens on your machines as well.

OMG, that is weird! I have no idea why that is happening, there don't seem to be any locked groups or geometry- was any of it locked in the past? I think this file should be posted in the bug forum and emailed to Google for them to run a bug check.
The good news is that the workaround really simple- just copy and paste it into a blank file and then it behaves normally.

have you tried working in wireframe and then deleting the lines?

Thanks Jackson and I'll try the wire frame thing as well Edson.

Guys,
I guess the problem is that there are these components and layers all around in the model piled up on top of each other. I mean the same geometry appears on different layers but in the very same place. You sometimes don't even know when editing what in the model thus deleting geometry from one component while thinking that working on another one.
Turning off all the layers with the components but eploding the rest (I think on layyers2 when I started) allowed me to clean up that part pretty easily while when the components came into picture, they caused the mess again.
Jackson, when copying into a new model, did you copy everything? I mean all layers turned on and things like that?
-
Ah, that explains it. I only copied whichever layer was active, but I guess there was geometry within that group on another layer.
-
Just look at the file size difference! You probably just copied a fraction of what was there!

Tobobo,
I'm very much a newbie myself so I don't know if this will help you or not but I played with your file.
I deleted everything on levels 0 and 1, then redrew the front portion of the seat.
I don't know how to paste a link to a file, so here's a jpeg. The file is in the Newbie folder on the sketchucation page.
Is this what you're looking for?Nomi
