    Hi all;
    I'm very new to Sketchup (and design programs in general)--just an amateur woodworker who thought it might be fun and useful for conceiving furniture designs.
    Anyway, I have a feeling I'm overlooking something simple, but I can't figure out whether I can do this: I'm playing around with a tabletop design, and I used the Linear Array tool to copy several slats side by side. Now I want to put some kind of edge detail around the outside--I've tried making them into a group and using follow-me, and also exploding the group and trying again, but every time it seems to follow the actual component edges, so the detail is applied to each slat individually, rather than around the top as a whole. Am I missing an easy approach, or do I just have to do the edges separately?
    I hope I've been reasonably clear in my explanation...and thanks in advance for any help.

      Benito, posting a model for us to look at would be helpful if not essential, but sounds like you need to draw an edge around your tabletop components to use with the followme tool...?

        Hi Benito, hi folks.

        See the attached SU file for ideas.

          Hi Tom, thanks for responding (and so quickly!)

          I'm attaching an example of what I'm talking about--I'm just trying to figure out the technique, because the hard drive on my laptop crashed last night and I want to recreate some of the designs I had there while I can remember them, but I don't want to take as long as I did the first time....
          At any rate, you'll see it's just a basic edge-joined table top, and I put a line on the right edge to indicate the basic kind of detail I'm talking about. I'm thinking that my problem has to do with not knowing the proper configuration of components/groups etc. to get this to work. I've tried drawing a line like you said, but there's always some sort of problem: I can't select the full line, or I can't select the chamfer with followme, etc.
          Sorry to be asking such tedious questions...

          *EDIT: Holy crap, guess I posted a minute too late--that's incredibly awesome mon frere, and merci beaucoup
